Author and Illustrator, Lilian F. NorrisWhile having lived in the Tampa Bay, FL for most of my life, I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to travel extensively and experience cultures from around the world. Wearing many hats over my career, the majority (16+ years) was centered around science and environmental education with a greater focus on Florida's natural history and wildlife ecology.
Communicating science in an edutainment capacity is one of the areas in which I originally became skilled. This included developing curricula, resources, and activities while meeting science standards. Despite working outside of these fields in my day jobs for some time, I have continued to volunteer with environmental education, science festivals, maker conventions and nature parks. I have been writing children's books with central themes centered on my mission to make a difference. Her missions in creating this bookLilian has high objectives for Mother Nature's Princesses:
• to enlighten and empower diverse girls to learn about and pursue environmental science • to provide a greater awareness and respect for the amazing complexities of the biodiversity of the natural world and how people impact them • to encourage others to become better stewards of the earth and quest for sustainability • to demonstrate harmony and unity among peoples of different cultures in reaching common goals • and to encourage more positive dreaming and action! |
